I was hoping it might be something I could fix myself. It wasn't until his 2nd dig in that spot that it went from intermittent to hard failure. Once to change a water main, and 2nd time to fix a leak from the 1st time. How to fix a leaking sprinkler head spelunkerd 58.4K subscribers Subscribe 484K views 12 years ago Home Repair I describe a method to repair an irrigation sprinkler head that is. The reason I haven't called the plumber back, is because he seemed a bit questionable, and it was already the 2nd time he'd dug up that spot. (The plumber did seem to make it worse, hmmm.) I *seems* almost like a coin or marble is in the line, acting like a valve, and it's too heavy to get pushed out by the "flush" I tried to do, but it started happening on it's own.Initially. Adjusting the Distance (water flow): Turning your faucet up higher or lower to increase or decrease water flow is the easiest way to adjust distance. If I cap off the spinkler heads it pours out the anti-siphon pretty hard, and if I cap that off it sprays nicelly through the sprinkler heads. There are four ways to affect the sprinklers spray. Sprinklers should be spaced for 100 overlap or head-to-head coverage. Place it on the solenoid valve and then also fix the spring on it. If the diaphragm gasket is found to be damaged, replace the old gasket with the new one. Also clean off any debris that may be affecting the operation of the solenoid. While you’re right there, you may want to give the sprinkler’s pressure adjustment screw a counterclockwise turn to see if that helps, too. Remove the diaphragm gasket and spring placed on the solenoid valve. This is generally caused by improper sprinkler head spacing. Grab a bucket of warm water, a brush, your toolbox, and the manufacturer’s instructions for disassembling the head, if necessary. There are dry areas in front of or around the sprinkler head. For large leaks, loosen the Anti-Siphon lid and check the condition of the lid gasket and the seal carrier. A small amount of leakage while the valve is turning on or off is nor-mal. If the sprinkler has a filter, it may need to be cleaned. Verify that the valve is installed a minimum of 6 above the highest sprinkler head (check local codes). (My other 2 zones work fine)Ĭonnecting a garden hose into where a sprinkler head goes, and removing the top of the anti-siphon, I can push water into the system, and it comes out the anti-siphon and out the sprinklers. Also, if the control valve has a flow control, it may be turned down. Could that cause this? I can't imaginine it, but thought I'd ask. They don't look it to me, but they may never have been. I read that they should be at least 6" above the sprinkler heads. I think he may have lowered all 3 of my anti-siphon valves (3-zones). I could fiddle with it and then it'd work once or twice before failing again.Ī plumber did some work in the area, unrelated, and now I can't get the water to stop pouring out the anti-siphon no matter what I try. It worked fine for the 2 years I'd lived here, then it started happening out of the blue. Water is pouring out the anti-siphon valve of one of my sprinkler zones when it is on.
